Retired Milford police officer saves mans life after accident

I've heard that retired Milford police officer Joseph DellaMonica saved a man who was badly injured in a car accident on the Garden State Parkway in New Jersey on Saturday. Apparantly the accident happened in front of him and the car was on fire when he crawled through the car and removed the badly injured man moments before the car exploded and was engilfed in flames. Can anyone verify the story. This is amazing if this is true and he should be recognized.
