MBOE's Infinite Wisdom Shines Once Again

As residents are aware, there was a recent announcement expanding the distance for walkers to schools in Milford.  The resulting affect is that Elementary students within 1 mile, Middle School students within 1.5miles, and High School students within 2 miles of their schools will now be classified as walkers. However, the board failed to realize several facts; 1. With this expansion, more parents will be driving their children to/from school, which will create additional traffic that some schools which will not be able to accommodate or even possibly delay the time buses reach the school.  East Shore and Foran are examples; 2. Children will now be required to travel busy and dangerous roads that do not have proper crosswalks in our town.  For example; at Mathewson, kids will need to walk/cross Rte. 1, for Live Oaks kids will need to walk/cross down Anderson Avenue, and for East Shore, kids will now need to walk/cross New Haven Avenue.  All these roads are dangerous; 3: Once the school configuration changes, more children will be impacted that go beyond the 180 at this point.  Perhaps that may be contributing factor why the Board chose to defer changing the school configuration during the next school year as earlier proposed.

Decisions are being made today which impact all our kids by a small group of individuals that are not impacted by their own decisions.  They are passing proposals, without properly communicating them to their constituents.   Why wasn’t it indicated on the MBOE’s 4/21/14 Agenda that there would be a vote taken, it only indicated there would be an update and traffic report provided.  Why no formal communication sent to parents that this decision was even pending?  Why all this secrecy?

The MBOE continues to reference its Vision statement, but ironically continues to conduct themselves in a contradictory manner. What other decisions will be made by these individuals in this very cloak and dagger fashion?

Based on the ethical manner in which our Board of Education conducts business, I make the following prediction.  The Board of Education will make an announcement, of a plan to build a single High School at Eisenhower Park.

This is the vision of the two ladies from the 2nd District.  Susan Glennon (Board Chair) and Tracy Casey (Former Board Chair)

So believe what you will, but this is going to happen because these overzealous and myopic women are too predictable.
