Maroney Family Meets The Obamas at 136th Annual Easter Egg Roll

Representative James Maroney and his family attended the 136th annual White House Easter Egg Roll on the South Lawn of the White House. Rep. Maroney said he and his family were in Washington, D.C., visiting family for the Easter weekend and were ecstatic to make a detour to the White House on their way back to Milford, Connecticut.

The Maroney family was greeted by both the President and First Lady - "It was just great," said Jay Maroney, Rep. Maroney's son. "This is an Easter that I'll never forget. I can't wait to tell everyone at school!"

Representative Maroney was very excited that his family had the opportunity to meet the First Family. "It was so great to see all the people gathered on the South Lawn from all different parts of the county," he said. "With the divisive political atmosphere in Washington lately, it's refreshing to see people put aside partisan politics and focus on friends, health and family."

The theme for this year's Easter Egg Roll was "Hop into Healthy, Swing into Shape," a theme promoting the First Lady's "Let's Move!" initiative.

Maroney's wife, Jen Ju, M.D., a family physician, was thrilled with the entire experience and the theme of the event. "It's a once in a lifetime opportunity," said Dr. Ju. "First Lady Obama had such an inspiring message for everyone, and she is doing amazing things to fight childhood obesity and make our nation a healthier place."
