Carte Blanche to destroy the Milford

As parents, we all want what is best for our kids, especially with their education.  We put our faith and trust in the hands of our educators in hopes they can inspire our kids to be the best they can be.  We hope our elected Board members are focused on those priorities and do not vote the way of their party.  We hope their decisions follow the charge which has been bestowed upon them by their constituency and not one which follows a more self-fulfilling agenda.  We hope they possess the wisdom to look forward, objectively, to search for better ways to inspire and educate our youth in our ever evolving world.  We hope for all this.  But in Milford, what we hope for and what we actually receive are two things altogether different. We live in a town whose school administration runs without any checks and balances.  A group who has complete autonomy to make decisions impacting our youth and our town’s future with projects that cost Milford taxpayers millions of dollar.  They are able to accomplish this via a simple majority vote.  No public referendum, no review and approval by the Board of Alderman, just a majority vote amongst a group of “10” elected individuals.  Now how wonderful is it to be able to wield that much power without any oversight.  To have carte blanche to really do whatever you want, without the need for consensus from the community.   I have no words to say but that you should probably never mess with the Milford Board of Education.
