It's impossible to pick an all-time favorite, but one memorable book is The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver. This is a departure from my usual fare of mysteries, but it was recommended by someone whose taste I respect, so I gave it a try. The characters unfold, allowing the reader an opportunity to really know them....or at least you think you know them. The story is a combination of fascinating family revelation and sociological/cultural study. I read this book several years ago and still think about it. Although I consider myself an avid reader, I rarely remember a book this long.

Judy, I read EVERYTHING Barbara Kingsolver writes. She is one of my favorite authors. A couple of other books that I love are "The Lovely Bones" and "The Kite Runner".
