Peter Spalthoff, Republican candidate for Mayor, announced today that he has received the endorsement of AFSCME Local 1566, the union representing Milford Department of Public Works employees.
Spalthoff welcomed the union's endorsement.

"This is a proud moment for me. It's truly an honor to gain the trust and support of hard working City employees like the members of AFSCME Local 1566. These men and women care deeply about the quality of the services they provide to Milford residents and businesses.
"Local 1566 members want to make Milford a better place to live, work and learn. I want the same thing. By working together, and demonstrating mutual respect for each other's views, we can achieve that. We won't always agree, but we will always communicate with each other when it comes to providing top-notch public services."

Local 1566 President Michael Hedman said Spalthoff impressed union members with his commitment to protecting public services and fostering open-communication.
"Peter really respects the work we do. He knows we are proud to serve the public and wants to make sure we have the ability to get the job done. Being a former Trumbull police officer and union member, Peter also understands the challenges of being a public servant and the importance of maintaining dialogue between the chief elected official and the bargaining representative for City workers."
