William Sylvester of Milford Senior Center Men's Club dies at 91

After retirement, ‘Bill’ was active at the Milford Senior Center in the Men’s Club, as Treasurer of the Pool Room, and frequently volunteered his services during the Sunday Lunch Program.

 

William Sylvester, born in Bridgeport, CT on June 4, 1921, son of the late Dominic and Filomena (Santa Lucia) Silvestri, passed away peacefully in his home on February 28, 2013.

He proudly served our country during WWII in the US Army Air Corp. After the war he enjoyed working as a Produce Manager and later retired from the Town of Trumbull. After retirement, ‘Bill’ was active at the Milford Senior Center in the Men’s Club, as Treasurer of the Pool Room, and frequently volunteered his services during the Sunday Lunch Program.

Bill will be remembered for the laughter and generosity he gave those around him. He took pride in his garden and loved his children. He will be missed by his daughter, Linda Campanelli and her husband Chris of Milford CT; a son, Carl Sylvester and his wife Mary of Dallas, GA.

He is also survived by his loving grandchildren, Robert Carbone and wife Chelsey; Nicole Buturla and husband Justin; Christopher Campanelli and wife Nicole Mazzara; and Destinee Sylvester.

Calling hours are Sunday March 3, 2013 from noon to 2 p.m. at the Smith & Sefcik Funeral Home, 135 North Broad Street, Milford. A Prayer Service will be held during the visitation at 1:30 p.m. A private burial will follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to Vitas Hospice Trust Fund, 99 Hawley Lane Suite 1204 Stratford, CT 06614.
