Obituary: Veronica Mae Pastir, age 93

Mrs. Pastir was an active member in the Milford Senior Center.

 

Veronica Mae Pastir, age 93, of Milford and formerly of Stratford for many years, beloved wife of the late Steve J. Pastir, died on Wednesday, February 20.  

Mrs. Pastir was born in Yonkers, NY on December 15, 1919 to the late Joseph and Julia Vlasaty Petrovich. Mrs. Pastir worked as a bus driver for the Stratford Bus Lines and will be remembered most as ‘Mae’ or ‘Mom the Bus Driver in Stratford.’ Mrs. Pastir was also an active member in the Milford Senior Center.

Survivors include her children: Michael S. Pastir Sr. (Sue) of Milford, Dorothy Lutinski (Frank) of Milford, Eileen Jess (Bob) of Milford and Deborah Pastir of Coventry, daughter-in-law; Dotty Pastir of Stratford, nine grandchildren: Mark and Richard Lutinski, Jacqueline Glowny, Michael and Matthew Pastir, Mary Wydra, Martin Pastir, Richard Cerniglia and Steven Pastir, 11 great-grandchildren, her cousin and lifelong friend, Agnes Hvisc and several nieces and nephews.  

Mrs. Pastir is pre-deceased by her son, Steven M. Pastir, brother, Emil Petrovich and grandsons; William J. (Billy) Lutinski and Steven F. Jess.

The family would like to thank the staff at West River Health Care Center for their overwhelming compassion and care they showed Mrs. Pastir for over eight years.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to the charity of one’s choice.
