Obituary: Sheila Alicia Merwin Johnson, 87

Sheila attended boarding school in Antigua B.W.I. and Weylister College in Milford.


Sheila Alicia Merwin Johnson of Cheshire, went home to be with her Lord and Saviour on Wednesday, September 19, 2012. 

She was born on November 16, 1924 in Frederiksted, St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands, to the late Miles and Marguerite Fleming Merwin. Sheila attended boarding school in Antigua B.W.I. and Weylister College in Milford. 

She trained as a nurse cadet during WWII and graduated nurses training in 1946 from Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, FL earning her RN degree. She devoted her life and career to the compassionate care of others. She faithfully served her Lord and Saviour, always helping those in need and living her life to honor Jesus. 

Sheila is survived by her brothers John D. Merwin (Midge), Robert L. Merwin, George Merwin (Ethel), and a sister Joyce Hurd, daughters Deborah Collier (Bruce), Dana Brzoska and Denise Merrill (Craig), step-son Raymond Johnson Jr. (Ruth), step son-in-law Charles Kramer, grandchildren Shane, Seth, Jeremy and Cody Pociask, Joe, Joshua and Daniel Brzoska, Courtney Miller (Nate), Kimber Gorham (Nick), Cameron Merrill, Kiersten Bremer (Jim), step grandchildren Eric Johnson (Natalie), Karin Foley (Bill), David Kramer (Tiffany) and Lisa Brown (William), six great grandchildren and six step great grandchildren. 

She also survived by many precious and loving friends. Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her beloved husband Raymond G. Johnson Sr., sister Ruth MacMaster, step daughter Arlis Kramer and great grandson David Gorham.
