Pearl Theresa Chidiac Loffredo, 84, passed into God’s arms on Monday, February 25, 2013, with her loving family by her side.
She was born June 27, 1928, to Naim and Amina Chidiac in Paterson, New Jersey, one of their eight children. The happiest day of her life was November 27, 1954, when she married the love of her life, Gene Loffredo. They remained in Paterson for the births of their first three daughters and moved to Milford, CT, in 1959.
Over the next seven years, they had three more daughters. Gene died in 2002. Pearl and Gene took great pride in their large family of girls. For their children, they set a fine example of what it is to be a good Christian and a giving individual.
They also set a high standard for a happy marriage based on love, trust and communication. Once the girls were older, Pearl returned to the workforce, joining The Hartford for 20 years before retiring in the 1980s. After Gene retired, they traveled as much as they could, while also enjoying their growing family – this time growing with grandchildren.
They also spent many winters at their home in Clearwater, Florida. Over the years, Pearl was known by many as a master seamstress. For special occasions, she would make six matching outfits for all six girls. She made three of her daughter’s wedding gowns; the other three daughters wore her wedding gown.
Pearl was a talented quilt maker, stitching quilts for all six children and 13 grandchildren, in addition to countless other dresses, pants and baby blankets. Pearl’s greatest joy was being with her 13 grandchildren. This baker’s dozen was truly the light of her life and fulfilled her role as a loving grandma.
Pearl is survived by her six beloved daughters, affectionately known as “Pearl’s Girls”: Mary Claire Hanson and her husband, Gregory, of Milford, CT; Margaret Cornell Vigorito and her husband, Michael, of North Attleboro, MA; Jeanne Cutrona and her partner, Peter Dittman, of Milford, MA; Eileen Loffredo of Medford, NJ; Cathleen HInsch and her husband, Ken, of Middlefield, CT; and Donna Zielinski and her husband, Andrew, of Bethany, CT. Also mourning her loss are 13 grandchildren: Kevin and Timothy Hanson; Sean Murphy; Kara, Kristin and Marissa Cutrona; Kyle and Eric Smith; Laura and Grace Hinsch; and Andrew Jr, Robert and Kathryn Zielinski. Pearl’s surviving siblings are Eleanor Chidiac, Mary Iozzio, Janet Chidiac, Bernard Chidiac and Norman Chidiac – all of New Jersey – and John Chidiac, of Canada.
She also leaves many nieces, nephews and friends. Besides her husband and parents, Pearl is predeceased by a brother, Anthony, and two sons-in-law, Larry Cornell and Thomas Cutrona.
The family would like to thank the caring staff at Coachman Square in Woodbridge, where Pearl has resided for the past two years.
