Obituary: Michael Kapral, age 78, of Milford

In his spare time, Michael enjoyed reading, traveling and gardening. He was an enthusiast of playing the horses, and was interested in the stock market.


Michael J. Kapral, age 78, of Milford and beloved husband to Victoria “Jo” DeBrizzi Kapral, passed away on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at the VA Hospital in West Haven. 

Born on August 4, 1934 in Swoyersville, PA, he was the son of the late Michael and Wanda Kapral. He served with pride and honor in the US Army, Artillery division during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged in 1956 as a PFC. 

Michael was a tool & die maker for the former AVCO in Stratford and in his spare time enjoyed reading, traveling and gardening. He was an enthusiast of playing the horses, and was interested in the stock market. A loving and kind man, he will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

In addition to his wife Jo of 54 years, he is survived by his children; Michael Kapral and his wife Joan of Shelton, Michele Kapral of Milford, Maureen Kapral of West Haven and Daniel Kapral of Ansonia; also his eleven cherished grandchildren, Nicole, Monica, Michael, Corrine, Courtney, Bobby, Nicholas, Sara, Leah-Joy, Adam and Samantha. 

He is also survived by several great grandchildren, his sister, Diane Goessinger and two sisters-in-law, Santina Zuiewski and Frances Diener and her husband Herb, and may moe loving family members.

He was predeceased by his brothers, John and Albert and his sister, Eileen. The family would like to sincerely thank the dedicated staff of the VA Hospital for their compassion and care of Michael during his illness. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, November 29th at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, 70 Gulf St., Milford, CT. Committal with full military honors to follow at St. Michael’s Cemetery, Stratford. 

There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are being handled by the Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad St., Milford, CT 06460. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the VA Hospital, 960 Campbell Ave., West Haven, CT. 06516 or to the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation, 1359 Broadway, Suite 1509, New York, NY 10018.
