Obituary: Michael A. DeFranzo, age 62

MIK3 was known as a quiet man with a large, gentle heart who loved the music of the sixties and enjoyed reminiscing about his experiences at Woodstock.

 

Michael A. DeFranzo, 62, of Milford, formerly of Bridgeport, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2013 at Milford Hospital with his wife and children by his side.

He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Arleen Suffredini DeFranzo.Mike was born on October 19, 1950, son of Celia and the late Angelo DeFranzo. He was employed by the City of Bridgeport Board of Education for 26 years until his retirement in 2009.

Mike loved being by the water, spending time at the beach, sitting in the sun and fishing. During the winter months, he also enjoyed playing his guitar, online poker tournaments and day trading.

Mike was a loving husband, father and grandfather who was at his happiest when spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was known as a quiet man with a large, gentle heart who loved the music of the sixties and enjoyed reminiscing about his experiences at Woodstock.

In addition to his wife, Arleen, survivors include his mother, Celia; two children, Melissa Morizet and her husband Darren of Hopewell Junction, NY, Michael DeFranzo and his wife Michelle of Shelton, CT; five grandchildren, Lucas, Austin and Dylan Morizet, Michael and Sofia DeFranzo. He is also survived by his brother Joey DeFranzo and three sisters, Linda Lupulio, Terry Varrone and Michele Dias as well as many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Wednesday April 24, 2013 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Smith & Sefcik Funeral Home, 135 N. Broad St. Milford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated Thursday at 11 a.m. directly in St. Agnes Church Milford. Entombment will follow in Mt. St. Peters Mausoleum in Derby.
