Obituary: Mary J. Martino, age 92

Mary was a parishioner of Saint Mary Church and a member of the Milford Senior Citizens Center. She also founded the Rosary Group at the Laurel Gardens in Milford.

 

Mary J. Martino, age 92, of Milford and formerly of Stratford, beloved wife of the late John A. Martino, died on Thursday, May 9, 2013.  

Mrs. Martino was born in Waterbury, CT on July 25, 1920 to the late James and Helen Sebastian Castellano. Mary was a lifelong resident of Stratford until moving to Milford 25 years ago. She was a parishioner of Saint Mary Church and a member of the Milford Senior Citizens Center. Mary also founded the Rosary Group at the Laurel Gardens in Milford.

Survivors include her daughters; Jean Smith and her husband Kenneth of Stratford, Helen Manzione of Milford, her brother; Victor Castellano of Bridgeport, four grandchildren; Lynn Fuchs (Dave) of Stratford, Brian Gardner-Smith (Sharyn) of England, Terry Beedle (Vincent) of Guilford and John Manzione (Jennifer) of Orange, six great-grandchildren; Ali Fuchs, Emma Fuchs, Mya Manzione, Sydney Manzione, Hailey Beddle, Christopher Beedle, three sister-in-laws; Mary Stanko, Rose Schippani both of Stratford, Jean Martino of Huntington and several nieces and nephews.  Mrs. Martino is pre-deceased by her sister JoAnn Ryan.  

Friends may call on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. in The Gregory F Doyle Funeral Home, 291 Bridgeport Avenue, Milford.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday at 9 a.m. directly in St Mary Church, 70 Gulf Street, Milford.  Interment will follow in Union Cemetery, Stratford.

The family would like to thank Golden Hill Health HCC 1st floor staff for the wonderful care and friendship she was given, also to Sol Amor Hospice care who gave her great comfort for the last three months.
