Obituary: Josephine A. Pomes

Josephine A. Pomes, age 82, longtime resident of Milford and beloved wife to the late Peter Paul Pomes, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at Milford Hospital.

 Born in the Bronx, NY on January 20, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Teresa Arbia. Josephine was employed in the gift shop with the former Gloria's of Milford.

She enjoyed cooking and baking, especially for her family dinners and loved making blankets by hand.

In her spare time, Josephine took great delight in her casino trips and enjoyed travelling, vacationing in Florida, Italy, Norway and Las Vegas.

A spirited and gentle woman, Josephine's kindness and love will be deeply missed by her cherished family and friends.

She is survived by her children, Linda Pomes, Frank Pomes (Donna), and Joanne Newman (Martin); her beloved grandchildren, Martin Newman Jr. and Michelle Newman, Katie and Frank Pomes; great grandchild Ryan D'Aurelio and her siblings, Marlene Gorske and Lucy Rummery and many loving nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her brother, Nicholas Arbia and her son and daughter Peter and Michelle Pomes.

Friends and family may call on Friday, May 23rd from 5 to 8 pm with a Prayer Service at 7:00 pm at the Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad St., Milford, CT 06460. Burial will be private.

The family would like to thank Milford Health Care, Milford Hospital and Lifechance Hospice for their dedication, compassion and care of Josephine.
