Obituary: Joseph Posta, 89, of Milford

Friends may call on Wednesday from 4:00 pm to 7:00pm at the Smith & Sefcik Funeral Home.

 

Joseph Posta, 89, of Milford, passed away on Monday January 14, 2013, in Milford Hospital.

He was born on September 6, 1923, in Bridgeport to the late Benedetto and Philomena Ciccone Posta. Mr. Posta worked as a Machinist for Raybestos for many years until his retirement.

Joseph became and enjoyed many years as a member of the Milford Senior Center. He is survived by his devoted children Debra Johnson and her husband Keith of West Haven, Joseph B. Posta and his wife Linda of Milford, two brothers Mario Posta of Fairfield and John Posta of Ansonia, sisters Angelina Porto of Stratford and Lena Smerglinola of Bridgeport, 7 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother Carmen Posta and sister Tessie Nicita.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday January 17, 2013, in Christ the Redeemer Church, 325 Oronoque Road, Milford; at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Kings Highway Cemetery Milford.

Friends may call on Wednesday from 4:00 pm to 7:00pm at the Smith & Sefcik Funeral Home, 135 North Broad St. Milford.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made directly to the American Heart Association 5 Brookside Dr. Wallingford, CT 06492
