Obituary: Hunter Shallis, age 77

Hunter Shallis, age 77, longtime resident of Milford and beloved husband to Joyce Shallis, passed away on Monday, April 15, 2013 at home surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Seattle WA on February 14, 1936, he was the son of the late Ira Hunter Jr., and Loretta Bemis Shallis. He received a Bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Washington and, prior to his retirement, was a contract administrator for Sikorsky in Stratford.

An avid gardener, he enjoyed growing flowers and vegetables and also took pleasure in deep sea fishing in his spare time. His most happy and memorable times were spent traveling with his family. A generous, warm and loving husband, father, stepfather, brother, grandfather and great grandfather, Hunter will be sadly missed by his family and friends. 

In addition to his wife, Joyce of 36 years, he is survived by his four children, Steven Shallis of AZ, Marcie Quillici (Jim) of CA, Chuck Shallis of HI, Michael Shallis (Becci) of CA and step-daughter Jill Owens (Jon) of NY; cherished grandchildren, Sergio Marissa, Robyn, Kirsten and James; three great grandchildren and his sister Donna Weller (Dick) of WA and many nieces and nephews.
