Obituary: Helen Eremchuk, age 91

She was a passionate gardener and avid reader who loved to walk to the Milford library and then the duck pond to feed the birds.

Helen Eremchuk, age 91, of Milford, died on Wednesday, January 23, 2013.

Helen was the third child born to the late Dimitry and Alexandria Eremchuk in Coaldale, PA on October 15, 1921. Helen lived most of her life in Queens, NY, before retiring and relocating to Milford, CT in the early 90's.

Helen worked at the Clark O'Neil Company in New Jersey for over 35 years. She was hired as a mail clerk and because of her willingness to learn, worked her way up to become the head of the payroll department until her retirement. She loved the theatre and the ballet and took advantage of her New York residence to see as many shows as she could.

She was a passionate gardener and avid reader who loved to walk to the Milford library and then the duck pond to feed the birds. Helen adored animals; especially the squirrels she fed from her window when she could no longer walk very far.

Helen was also able to catch and rehome many of the stray cats that resided behind her apartment building on Jepson Drive.  One of those cats actually adopted her, and Gypsy became Helen's devoted companion for over 15 years.  Helen loved to walk around Shop Rite and also eat at Bertucci's and the Kimberly Diner, where she said they always treated her like family.

Maybe you recall Great Aunt Helen, she's that cute little old lady that always had full pockets of Werther's candy that she loved to hand out with a big smile.  Survivors include her great-niece; Catherine Kamen (Allen) of Milford and her great-nephew Matthew Misiura (Nicole) of Illinois. The Gregory F Doyle Funeral Home is in care of arrangements.

I don't mind more pizza if its good pizza. There are plenty of horrible and so-so pizza places inRead More Milford. Currently 314 B-port Ave is a boarded up building with a parking lot where cops love to sit. Either this will prevent cops from sitting their or will cause them to sit there more. Also ladies, Milford is known for its P's: pizza, porn, package, and pawn.

I second Christina! Is no one listening? we are up to our ears in pizza! Im pretty sure we have moreRead More pizza in milford than new haven! Where is this trailer going to park at the devon market!? the traffic the market creates is bad enough for people that live in that area without a mobile oven rolling on in! I hope they have thought of that issue at the very least!
