Obituary: Gladys Aurora Santana Fernandez, age 68

Gladys truly enjoyed her occasional visits to Mohegan Sun and yearly vacations in Aruba. But nothing was more important to her than being with family.

 

Gladys Aurora Santana Fernandez, age 68, of Milford, beloved wife of the late Gamaliel Fernandez, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, November 11, 2012.  

Mrs. Fernandez was born on March 24, 1944 in Santurce, PR to the late Tomas Santana and the late Gladys Mayol Santana.  Prior to her retirement, she was a team leader for Schick Wilkinson Sword for over 20 years.

For the last seven years, she was a leading sales associate at Macy's. She truly enjoyed her occasional visits to Mohegan Sun and yearly vacations in Aruba. But nothing was more important to her than being with family.  

She leaves her loving son and daughter, Daniel Fernandez and Diana Fernandez, both of Milford.  She was predeceased by her oldest son, Louis Fernandez.

She also leaves her grandchildren, whom she loved dearly, Daniel L. Fernandez and Alicia M. Fernandez, both of West Haven and Alexa Nahas of Philadelphia, PA, as well as several nieces and nephews.

She is also survived by her sisters, Mary Garay of Orange, Mildred Santana of West Haven,   Avone Santana of Stratford and Sonia Santana of West Haven, and her brother; Samuel Santana of West Haven. She was predeceased by her brothers; Angel T. Santana, Richard Santana and Louis Santana.  She will be sadly missed by her yorkshire terrier, Frankie.  

Friends may call on Wednesday from 5-8PM at The Gregory F. Doyle Funeral Home, 291 Bridgeport Avenue, Milford. A funeral service will be held on Thursday morning at 11AM in the funeral home followed by interment in Kings Highway Cemetery.
