Obituary: Elinor McCarthy, 73

Elinor was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Elinor McCarthy, age 73, of Milford beloved wife to John "Jack" McCarthy entered into eternal rest at Yale-New Haven Hospital on Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in New Haven on Feb. 4, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Clifford and Helen Faulkner.

Elinor worked as a hairdresser and was the longtime fitness supervisor at the JCC in Woodbridge, Conn.

She was an active parishioner at Saint Agnes Church in Milford, she also enjoyed taking long walks and shopping but most of all she enjoyed the time spent with her family and friends.

Elinor was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her husband Jack of 52 years, Elinor is survived by her daughter Casey Gray and her husband James, her grandchildren Lauren, Brianna, Stephanie and Erica Gray and Matthew McCarthy; her siblings Clifford, Eddie and Dennis Faulkner, Helen Rogers and Sophie Kotomski, and her cousin Nancy Federico.

Elinor is predeceased by her beloved son John Timothy McCarthy and her siblings Shirley McDonald, James, Fred and Francis Faulkner.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, Dec. 23 at 11 a.m. at St. Agnes Church, 400 Merwin Ave., Milford. Interment to follow at Mount Saint Peter Cemetery in Derby.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
