Obituary: Eileen Mary Broderick Bove, age 91

Eileen Mary Broderick Bove, age 91, of Milford, CT, passed away on Sunday, February 24, 2013.

She was the beloved wife of the late Dr. Joseph M. Bove and daughter of the late James and Mary Ann Broderick. Eileen was born on March 22, 1921, in Riverdale, NY. She graduated from Cochran School of Nursing.

As a registered nurse at St. John’s Riverside Hospital she met and married her husband, Joseph. In 1944, Eileen and Joe Bove settled in Yonkers, NY, and raised eight children. They were also summer residents of Milford, CT. In 1976, they moved to Palm Beach County, Florida in semi-retirement.

Eileen, a superb homemaker, loved to cook and host large family gatherings, especially during the holidays. She also opened her heart and home to others less fortunate; always an extra plate at the table, a bed to sleep, a shoulder to cry on.

Eileen enjoyed a renewed career in the health profession later in life when she became office manager of her husband’s Florida family practice. She enjoyed playing bridge with friends and family, was a voracious reader, and loved to travel. Eileen was very proud of her Irish heritage and was well known for her bright Irish wit. 

Eileen Bove leaves eight children, Eileen Bove of Milford, CT, Michael Bove of Los Osos, CA, James Bove, M.D., and his wife Zoe of High Falls, NY, Alanna Bove and her husband Jim of Portland, OR, Chris Bove of Satellite Beach, FL, Kim Lansing and her husband Jack of West Palm Beach, FL, Peter Bove and his wife Cameron of Litchfield, CT, and David Bove, N.D., of Eugene, OR.

Eileen is also survived by 12 grandchildren, six great grandchildren, as well as many Irish family members both here and in Ireland. She was predeceased by four brothers, Bernard, James, Martin, and John.
