Obituary: Charles Joseph Carature, age 67

Friends and family may call prior to the service on Wednesday, August 8th from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Cody-White Funeral Home.

 

Charles Joseph Carature, “Chucky”, age 67, lifelong resident of Milford, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, August 2, 2012 at home after a long illness. 

Born on March 14, 1945 in Milford, he was the son of the late Carmine and Clemintina Visconti Carature.

Charles served with honor in the US Air Force during the Vietnam Era as an Air Patrolman. He was an alumnus of Jonathan Law HS being part of their first graduating class. 

Prior to his retirement, he was a heavy equipment operator for the City of Milford, Department of Public Works. Chucky was an avid golfer and a member of the Orange Hills CC.

He enjoyed fishing and especially loved spending time with his many friends at the Off Shore Restaurant in West Haven and dancing with friends. 

He is survived by his cherished daughter, Sherry Loreen Carature of Ansonia, his former wife Carollyn Gallaher of Meriden and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his twin sister, Carol Delvey and sister Florence Banta.

Chucky is also survived by his beloved companion Maryjane D’Ambruoso of Oxford.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, August 8th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Gabriel Church, 26 Broadway, Milford. 

Committal with full military honors to follow at King’s Highway Cemetery.
