Milford Angel's Wake Tonight

Zoe Anyan, the 7-year-old who succumbed to cancer Wednesday, will be memorialized at a Mass on Saturday.

(November 3, 2003 - February 16, 2011)

Zoe Elizabeth Anyan, age 7, our little precious angel passed away in her mother’s arms Wednesday night February 16, 2011 at  Boston Children’s Hospital surrounded by her loving family after a brave and long 10-month battle with a rare, malignant Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma Brain Stem Tumor.

She is survived by her beloved parents Scott and Melissa (Castango ) Anyan, sister Jasmine Marie Castango and cousin Kenneth John Fernandes who has been a brother to her.

She had a large, loving family, including her maternal grandparents, the late John and Doris (Tonkin) Castango of Norwalk; paternal grandparents, Richard and Dianne Anyan of Greenwich; paternal great grandparents; William and Marilyn Perkins of Boise, Idaho; maternal aunts, Kathryn and Vincent Marabella of Loudon, N.H., Debra and David Zarges of Loudon, N.H., Angela and Robert Hannis of Mission Viejo, Calif.; and Patricia Castango of Milford; paternal aunt Sheila and Vincent Godino of Ledyard; and many, many cousins and friends.

Zoe was a second -grade student at Live Oaks Elementary School in Milford. She loved her puppy Penny, school, fishing with her dad, attending Sound Tiger Hockey Games, bowling, build a bear, and baking with her friends at school and with her sister at home. Zoe also loved listening to music, collecting shells at the beach and splashing in the water. She enjoyed movies, shopping, Chuck E. Cheese, playing Wii, butterflies, ladybugs, rainbows and arts and crafts. Zoe will be sadly missed. Visiting hours will be held on Friday Feb. 18, 2011, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Dennis & D’Arcy Funeral Home, 2611 Main St., Stratford.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday February 19, 2001 at 11 a.m. meeting directly at St. Gabriel’s Church, 26 Broadway, Milford. Burial will take place in the spring.

In lieu of flowers donations in her memory can be made to Webster Bank, c/o The Zoe Fund, 314 Merwin Ave. Milford, CT 06460 to help with family expenses.
