Loraine Crocco, former Milford First Selectman, dies at 83

An active member of the community, Loraine served as First Selectman for the City of Milford, was on the Democratic Town Committee for over 30 years and was secretary for the 4th District.

 

Loraine Marie DuCharme Crocco, age 83, of Milford, formerly of Lordship, passed away on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 in Orange Health Care.

She was born on September 14, 1929 to the late Howard and Elsie Shelton DuCharme in East Orange, NJ. An active member of the community, she served as First Selectman for the City of Milford, was on the Democratic Town Committee for over 30 years and was secretary for the 4th District.

Mrs. Crocco is survived by her devoted children Antoinette Carey and her husband Richard of Milford, Anthony Crocco and his wife Lee of Florida, Brian Crocco and his wife Elizabeth of New Haven and Laurie Crocco of Milford, brother Robert DuCharme of Vermont, sisters Joan Farrington of Bethany and Dorothy Gaudette of Milford also survived by Dorothy Dillman and her husband Craig of Beacon Falls, seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her loving husband Anthony James Crocco.

Calling hours are Friday, February 15, 2013 from 4 to 8pm at the Smith & Sefcik Funeral Home, 135 Broad St., Milford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 16th, at St. Agnes Church, 400 Merwin Ave., Milford at 11am. Interment will follow in Mt. Grove Cemetery in Bridgeport.
