Laurel Kane, Past President of Milford Newcomer’s Club, Dies at 68

Laurel was a former member of VISTA, St. Mary's Home School Association and director of the Bridgeport Battered Women's Shelter.

 

Laurel Bonavia Kane, age 68, of Milford, beloved wife to Paul Joseph Kane, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at CT Hospice in Branford.

Born in Bridgeport on October 7, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Howard V. and Ada Lyons Bonavia. A graduate of Roger Ludlowe HS and a Cum Laude graduate of Mt. Holyoke College, Laurel worked as a Victim Advocate with the State of CT prior to her retirement.

She was a former member of VISTA, St. Mary’s Home School Association and director of the Bridgeport Battered Women’s Shelter and a past president of the Milford Newcomer’s Club.

Laurel also was a social worker in the Bronx for Cardinal McCloskey Foster Home. Laurel was an avid gardener, enjoyed reading and had traveled abroad extensively.

A devoted, dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Laurel was selfless with her time. Her compassion, caring and generosity will be greatly missed by all who knew her. 

In addition to her husband Paul of 36 years, she is survived by her two sons, Brendan Paul Kane and his wife Shannon, Howard William Kane and Kellie McFarland, and her cherished grandson, William.

She is also survived by her brother, Howard V. Bonavia and his wife Linda and many loving nieces and nephews. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, December 1st (MEET DIRECTLY AT CHURCH) at 12:00 pm at St. Mary’s Church, 70 Gulf St., Milford followed by interment at Milford Cemetery.

Friends and family may call on Friday, November 30th from 5 to 8 pm at St. Mary’s Church for calling hours. Arrangements are being handled by Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad St. Milford, CT 06460.
