Joseph Carl Chipello, age 81, of Milford, beloved husband of the late Elizabeth Connor Chipello, passed away on Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at Bridgeport Manor. He was born in Milford April 26, 1932 to the late Anthony and Sadie Gardino Chipello.
He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Joseph was a professional boxer and also worked for Secondi Brothers for several years. He was a member of the Milford Elks.
Joseph is survived by his sons, Joseph Anthony Chipello and his wife Bridget of Orange, Thomas Jason Chipello and his wife Stephanie of Milford and John Michael Chipello of Southington; brothers, James and Anthony Chipello of Milford; a sister, Mary Chipello of Florida; and grandchildren Bridget and Brianna Chipello.
In addition to his wife, he is predeceased by a son, Jerry Allan Chipello; brothers Samuel (Tootie), Paul (Spach) and Carl Chipello; and sister Carmela (Minnie) Rotella.
Wake will be held Sunday, July 7, 2013 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Smith & Sefcik Funeral Home, 135 N. Broad St., Milford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10:30 a.m. in St Mary’s Church Milford.
Interment will be private. Donations in his memory may be made to St. Mary’s Church 70 Gulf St. Milford, CT 06460.
