With iWatch Milford, citizens will know that it is safe for them to provide tips without ever disclosing their identity. Citizens are provided a convenient reporting method to provide tips and leads to police concerning crime that is affecting their community. iWatch Milford will allow our citizens to harness the communication capabilities of the internet/social networking sites to report crime tips and leads. The primary objective of iWatch is to provide an anonymous crime reporting resource to residents, students and businesses throughout Milford.
iWatch was also created for citizens who have information regarding a crime but fear reprisal from the criminal they are turning in. It is an effective tool for law enforcement, in partnership with the community
The new software (iWatch) Milford Prevention Council and the Milford Police Department are collaborating on would enhance the current system that the Milford Police Department utilizes to provide tips on any illegal and criminal activity. The new technology will enhance the current system of providing reports, by expanding the reporting to video and photographs. The software can be accessed via smartphones and tablets. The MPC expects this software to reduce underage drinking and substance use via anonymous reporting of illegal activity using the newest technology available.
