50K Challenge Milford Earth Day Count Down!

50K Litter pick up - One Piece Per Resident, by Milford Earth Day, May 11, 2013

You are doing it! The Milford Conservation Commission has challenged residents to pick up one piece of litter per resident by May 11th and we're more than half way to our goal. So far we've collected 28,343 pieces leaving 21,657 to go!

Milford is the best! Every day more people are helping to meet this challenge. Steve Johnson, Vice Chair, Conservation Commission and coordinator of this event, is receiving calls and emails on a daily basis with people asking, 'What group can I join for a scheduled pick up?" Steve plays matchmaker to collective organizations and individuals looking for areas that need a spring clean-up. Steve also has bags contributed by Home Depot for the 50K.

Hundreds of people are posting their numbers and a special thanks to a few of the groups that already organized a pick up:
New Haven Bird Club, Woodmont United Church of Christ, JFK Elementary School Brownie Troop 38380, Spectrum Associates, PGTA- Post Grad Transition Academy, Tidie Townies, Mary Taylor United Methodist Church, and also many families and individuals.
