Milford Trees: City To Declare April 26 as 'Milford Arbor Day'

In celebration, this Saturday volunteers will be replacing several crab apples that had been removed on the city green, with six Yoshino Cherry trees.

Milford will soon have its own, local day to celebrate the importance of the tree.

The City of Milford will be issuing a proclamation that this Saturday, April 26 is officially "Milford Arbor Day," according to Milford Trees Inc. 

Tree Replacement Project

The nonprofit organization works to nurture and protect the city's trees, which includes managing the Shadyside Nursery on Gulf pond. 

In celebration of proclamation, Saturday morning Milford Trees volunteers will be replacing the six crab apples removed by Milford Bank on the city green with six Yoshino Cherry trees.

These trees are similar to those planted on The Mall in Washington, D.C.  

Move Up to the Gazebo

Volunteers will begin planting at 9 a.m.

When that work is completed, the group will move further up the green by he gazebo to to plant another replacement tree there.

'Everyone Is Welcome'

"We hope to have it all wrapped up by 12 before downtown traffic gets too busy," Milford Trees officials stated in an email. 

Everyone is welcome to stop by even if it is to just see how nice the new trees will look," they said.
