Learn More about the Milford Irish Festival

The 7th Annual Milford Irish Festival is taking place September 14th and 15th, next Friday and Saturday. We spoke with Marty Hardiman, President of the Irish Heritage Society of Milford about the festival.

What can people look forward to for this year's Irish Festival?

Anyone coming to the Irish Festival on Saturday can expect a great Cultural tent area, featuring Irish history & language, Irish step dancers, genealogy, trivia and much more. On the main stage there is Music from South Boston, upstate New York and local favorites. Great food also.

How will this year be different from previous festivals?

After 7 years, what have been some unexpected challenges and rewards that go along with putting on an annual festival?

Weather is always a challenge, finding new Irish vendors, keeping the Festival fresh and new. The biggest reward is seeing all the smiling faces and people talking positive about their experience at the Festival.

For those interested in joining the Irish Club, what could they look forward to?

We have trips to other towns during the parade season, Irish Theater, book clubs, cultural events, we try to do all things Irish.

Do proceeds from the Irish Festival go towards events for the Club or other organizations?

Some of the proceeds do go to the club but we do donate to some of the city organizations, we also donate to the city schools (school supplies), scholarships to the  two high schools and much more.

What's your favorite Irish Food?

Irish stew, and Lamb dishes.
