United Way of Milford Recognizes Local Volunteers

Nine outstanding volunteers were recently honored at the United Way of Milford's Community Builders Recognition Luncheon

Thank you to all those who recently attended the United Way of Milford's Community Builders Recognition Luncheon at Costa Azzurra Restaurant, and congratulations to our 2012 award recipients who were recognized for their service to the community.

This year's honorees included Buddy Prete, owner of Ultimate Interiors and local volunteer, and Barry Kasdan, President and CEO of Bridges... A Community Support System.

Also honored were Mary Ann Wasil Nilan for her work with the Get in Touch Foundation and Marie Vaughn and Bonnie McAllen of Meals on Wheels.  Kathlene Deck-Gerrity was recognized for her efforts with the Kids Closet at St. Mary's Church, and Dave Esposito, M.D., for serving as a volunteer vascular surgeon at a U.S. Army base in Germany and for his work with Foran High School Students.

Harriette C. Racz received the Lifetime Achievement Award posthumously for her dedication to the Milford community.  Ratan Manhohar, a junior at Jonathan Law High School received the Youth Leadership Award for his many hours of volunteer service.  Thanks for all you do for our community!

The United Way would also like to thank our luncheon sponsor, Independent Financial Consulting, Inc., as well as Julie Meyers, a 5th grader from Pumpkin Delight School who spoke about what the Boys and Girls Club of Milford means to her, and actress, singer, and songwriter Raissa Katona Bennett who served as emcee.  It was a wonderful and inspiring day!

To clarify, they have 4 cats, and they're only able to take two of them, plus their 14 year old dog.Read More It was a struggle for them to even find a way to get the dog in the rental agreement, otherwise they would have tried to take them. :(

Sad that they had to leave these beauties behind. I'm sure they are heartbroken over it.

Please contact Forgotten Felines in Clinton. They are a no kill cat shelter. Offering "free toRead More a good home" pets is dangerous. There are bad people out there who take them and sell them to research labs or use them as bait in dog fighting. Please rethink this ad.
