Community Corner

The Holistic Moms Network presents...Organic Gardening 101

Come learn what it is, how to do it and why it’s good for you, your family, our community and our planet.  The benefits of organic gardening include a higher nutritional value, better taste and money savings.  Still not sold? Pesticides and non-organic fertilizers contain synthetic chemicals that can be a catalyst for certain diseases including diabetes and obesity.

Amie Ziner, Arts & Humanities Instructor at the Woodruff YMCA, will talk to us about starting an organic garden, when to do it, what to plant and more.  Amie has planted many gardens, and this year is dedicated to growing an all-organic, non-GMO garden on the Woodruff YMCA grounds.  She is a published illustrator and art instructor, mom (of two grownup offspring), and an enthusiastic promoter of a greener environment.

The Holistic Moms Network is a non-profit support and discussion network that welcomes anyone who is interested in holistic health, natural parenting and/or green living. We welcome all people to join us wherever you are on the holistic path in an environment that does not judge. Come as you are! Our goal is to develop a thriving local community of holistic parents with a wide range of interests. The New Haven County (SW) Chapter meets the first Tuesday of the month.  For more information please visit www.holisticmoms.org
