A
part of Slant of Light's mission is to produce artistic work that inspires
communication in a safe atmosphere. The New Play Reading Series is a
script-in-hands reading of not-yet-produced or published plays. These readings
give the community the opportunity to experience the plays before they've
reached any other audience.

Slant of Light Theater
Company’s New Play Reading Series will continue this month with Down Swing, by Raegan Payne.

A
series of plays for those, newly arrived or always, at the bottom:

Ill-Informed:

Some things don’t turn out the way
you expect them to, as you’ll see in this wacky comedy. When the world’s worst
stalker appears from behind the bushes of a distraught woman’s apartment,
things begin to unravel into something oddly sentimental. Full of hilarious
dialogue as well as some touching moments, this play is great for anyone 13 and
up. (Language)

Strange Scene:

What happens when a man is sent to
babysit an obnoxious older kid? Why, he stages a political debate, of course!
But as the debate begins to unfold, all hell breaks loose. Great for anyone 12
or older – as long as you can keep up with it.

In A Hole:

After a terrible mine collapse, the
loved ones of those trapped wait for the end. A reporter enters the scene to
interview the surrounding crowd, when letters begin appearing from a tube
leading into the mine. Mass confusion ensues when it is discovered that the
letters are all unsigned and un-addressed. A very funny comedy, great for
anyone 14 or older (Language, content)
