Milford Fencing Club holds Fall Tournament

23 Fencers in 3 divisions compete for local class titles

Milford, CT, December 16, 2013:  The Milford Fencing Club held its 4th annual Fall Classic Fencing Tournament Monday night at the Orchard Hills School, during which local fencers from ages 10 to 17 competed in full electronically-scored matches in three divisions. After 28 spirited bouts of fierce competition and outstanding sportsmanship, first place in the Junior Mixed Foil Division went to Cristina Catana, followed by runners up Matthew Rothchild and Sebastian Todeasa.  In the Senior Men’s Mixed Foil Division, first place after 23 exciting bouts went to Greg Vetter, followed by last Fall’s tournament winner Andrew Hiza and 3rd place finisher Jack Finnegan.  In the Senior Men’s Epee division, Cellan Whaley took first place in a close final with runner up Nathan Domogala, followed by Seth Golembeski in third place. The Milford Fencing Club, founded by Andrew Hiza and now in it’s fourth season, is proud to offer beginner to expert competitive fencing instruction to the Milford community. Fencing is an elite Olympic-level sport most commonly found at private college preparatory schools and Ivy League universities, and the Milford Fencing Club offers local classes accessible to all ages 10 to adults, with instruction in both foil and epee. Due to overwhelming demand, the Club is announcing a wait-list for registration for the Winter 2014 ten-week session starting on Monday, January 6th.  Beginners are welcome, and the cost is only $150 which includes all gear and expert instruction.
