Kindness Matters: Story Time for Children

This week's story time emphasizes themes of kindness and compassion. The book Llama Llama and the Bully Goat by Anna Dewdney offers a simple, anti-bullying message. In Snowflakes Fall by award-winning author Patricia MacLachlan and illustrator Steven Kellogg, children hear about the natural changes that take place in nature. This poignant book was inspired by the tragic events that took place at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, where Mr. Kellogg lived for 35 years. Barnes & Noble's Juvenile Books' Lead Peg Reekie has sold 186 copies of Snowflakes Fall since its publication in November. "It's a beautiful read," Ms. Reekie said. "Just like we remember the snow even after it's fallen, we remember the children of Newtown."
