Washboard Slim & the Bluelights

The Milford Fine Arts Council Performance Coffeehouse will resume its 2012-2013 season with Washboard Slim & the Bluelights on Friday, January 25 at 8PM.

The music Washboard Slim & the Bluelights perform is at the very root of traditional American popular music.  For over thrity-five years bandleader Peter Menta has been expanding the concept of what a Jug Band cand sound like.  A typical Bluelights performance might include original music, early jazz, blues, swing, standards, jug band, gospel, pop music from the turn of the century and roots rock n' roll.

The band features Peter Menta (Washboard Slim) on drums, harmonica, kazoo and vocals;  Howard Horn on jug, washtub, bass, banjo and vocals;  Mat Kastner on guitar, National Steel guitar and banjo;  Cynthia Fabian on vocals, kazoo, kazooba and wasboard;  Brooks Barnett on piano, accordian, guitar, banjo, mandolin, drums and vocals and "the sixth Bluelight," Mark Crofutt on guitar, ukulele, drums, percussion and vocals.
