Bridgeport Theatre Company concludes its fourth season with the award-winning musical SHREK THE MUSICAL, running April 25-May 11, 2014. All performances will take place at the Downtown Cabaret Theatre, 263 Golden Hill Street, Downtown Bridgeport. Under the Artistic Direction of Eli Newsom, Bridgeport Theatre Company operates in residence and presents the Community Theatre Series for the Downtown Cabaret Theatre. BTC's 2013/2014 season has so far included LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS in September, a one-night screening of THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW EXPERIENCE, a sold-out run of DREAMGIRLS, and the classic play TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD.
SHREK THE MUSICAL, based on the Oscar winning DreamWorks film that started it all, brings the hilarious story of everyone's favorite ogre to dazzling new life on the stage. In a faraway kingdom turned upside down, things get ugly when an unseemly ogre instead of the handsome prince turns up to rescue a feisty princess. It's part twisted fairy tale, part laugh out-loud comedy, and all irreverent fun for the whole family!
The cast of 30 local performers includes Ryan O'Neill as Shrek, Arielle Boutin as Fiona, Matthew James Sherrod as Donkey, John Stegmaier as Lord Farquaad, Maggie Pangrazio as Dragon, Jason Parry as Pinocchio, and Paige Howell as Gingy. The ensemble includes Brian Bish, Lucas Cafaro, Joe Cardozo, Abby Sara Dahan, Juliet Dale, Dante DiFederico, Ryan Elle, Faith Fernandes, Evelynne Fulda, Marie Fulda, Paul Goodman, Emma Cenholt-Haulund, Emma LaPlace, Anthony Meath, Adelaide Meny, Emily Pisarra, Claire Regan, Lauren Regan, Everton Ricketts, Cynthia Rivera, Juliana Rivera, Brooke Robinson, and Helen Samsokevich.
The production is directed by Frank Root, with choreography by Abby Root, Musical Direction by Eli Newsom, Vocal Direction by Phillip Bettencourt, Scenic Design by Kevin Pelkey, Costume Design by Jessica Camarero, Lighting Design by Phil Hill, Sound Design by Chris Gensur, Projection Design by Damon Testani.
