“Soon our seniors will not be able to afford to live here, there is a two-year wait or longer on senior housing, and property taxes just keep going higher and higher,” he explained.

Spalthoff then suggested a Property Tax Freeze.

“When elected, I will go to work immediately on a tax freeze for our seniors that are over 65. I am also a senior, and I understand full well what it is like to be on a fixed income."

Spalthoff pointed to other cities in Connecticut where a tax freeze has been successful.

“It is just a way to help those seniors to get by in these tough economic times," said the Republican "It allows them a better opportunity to enjoy those golden years in the place they always called home.”

Spalthoff recently pointed out a decline in Milford’s population and sees the never-ending increases in annual taxes as a major factor. "A tax freeze right now really makes good sense."

Spalthoff has held multiple leadership roles for many years in numerous Milford community organizations such as the Chamber of Commerce, Milford Rotary, Woodruff YMCA, Milford Fine arts, Bridges, the Downtown Business Association and as Chairman of the United Way of Milford.

His community participation reflects his passion for Milford and his desire to get involved and get things done. His vision is to make Milford stronger, more diverse, and prosperous. Visit his web site at spaltformayor.com or contact him at 203.701.VOTE.
