shoreline from Tropical Storm Irene last August, but a controversial provision in a new coastal management bill in Hartford .
The Milford Mirror reported that two lawmakers who represent Milford, state Reps. Kim Rose, D- Milford, and Paul Davis, D-Orange, voted against the proposed revisions of the state’s coastal management statutes when they were debated by the General Assembly’s Environment Committee.
The chief concern cited by Rose and Davis is a provision that appears to make it state policy to seize shoreline property by eminent domain if the property is damaged by a coastal storm, as hundreds of houses and businesses along Connecticut’s shoreline were by the tropical storm on Aug. 28.
