Speaking of Milford, Listen to Milford Radio

Online radio program host Mark Kaminski comes to you live every Wednesday.

Mark Kaminski doesn’t have any background in radio, but that doesn’t stop him from hosting the Milford Radio program every Wednesday night.

"Milford Radio is an online radio show about Milford, Connecticut," Kaminski explained.

On Wednesday nights from 8 to 9 p.m., residents can "tune in" on their Internet connections to listen to him and co-host Dan Zeek, a lifelong friend, talk about their hometown from the Café Atlantique.

If listeners miss a show, they can download a podcast.

Last week, he and Zeek interviewed Coaches Jeff Bevino of Foran High and Mark Robinson of Jonathan Law about the Thanksgiving Day football game their teams would play.

In the past, they have featured Gov. Dannel Malloy, Mayor James Richetelli, NBC sportscaster Dan Patrick, baseball player Tommy Johns and members of the WTNH-TV news staff.

And next week, Dec. 7, their special guest will be Santa Claus, Kaminski said.

"No matter who we interview, even Tommy John, we try to tie it back to Milford," he said.

Café Atlantique welcomed them. "They give us our own little room where people can come and watch us," Kaminski said.

He said Milford Radio started in July 2010. Only 10 people listened to the first show, but its audience has grown steadily. Now, several hundred people listen to each program.

Kaminski is the co-owner, with Joe Meade, of Milford Pedicab, billed as an eco-friendly way to get around Milford.

"We really got involved in the community," he said. That gave him the thought that he never said enough about Milford, so why not say it to a bigger audience.

Kaminski might not have a radio background, but he is skilled in web site design. Currently, he is employed as an online marketing vice president for a company in Westport. His wife is a Milford teacher and the oldest of their two children is in kindergarten.

He’s also happy to talk about Milford Radio. He said he has spoken about it to the Chamber of Commerce, the Milford Rotary and other groups.
