Honoring Connecticut's 9/11 Victims

As the 11th anniversary of the terrorist attacks approaches, the state plans a remembrance ceremony at Sherwood Island State Park.

The name of everyone of the 153 victims of 9/11 from Connecticut will be read during the state's annual remembrance ceremony on Monday, Sept. 10, 2012.

The public is invited to attend the ceremony, the 11th annual Connecticut Remembers September 11th Memorial Service, at Sherwood Island State Park in Westport. The service will begin promptly at 5:30 p.m. and those attending are asked to assemble at 5 p.m.

Family members of those lost in the attacks will join the service, and each of the 153 victims’ names will be read aloud, according to a press release from the office of Gov. Dannel P. Malloy.

Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman will be the keynote speaker. Also participating in the event will be the U.S. Coast Guard Cadet Glee Club, the Leathernecks of Connecticut and Marine Gunnery Sgt. Orville Grizzle, who will sound Taps.

Where were you when you found out about the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001?
