The Milford Mirror reports that the president of the Milford Striped Bass Club, which sponsors the event with the city, said business sponsors have cut back on their support, making it unlikely the club would be able to organize a trout derby for 2013.
It costs about $5,500 to stock the Milford duck pond with trout. The event usually draws hundreds of young anglers.
The 2012 trout derby will take place as planned, however. It is scheduled for May 5 starting at 6 a.m. at the Milford duck pond.
