Cops: Teenager Yells 'He Has a Gun!' As a Goof

Arrest information provided by the Milford Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.


A Branford teenager was arrested Wednesday night after allegedly yelling "He has a gun!" in the food court of the Westfield Connecticut Post Shopping Mall in Milford.

Alex Hopkins, age 19 of Branford, later admitted to making the statement, saying he was only joking at the time, according to Milford Police.

Hopkins was charged with second degree breach of peace.

He was released on a promise to appear in court on February 13th, 2013.

As a distinguished US Supreme Court justice once said Freedom of speech does not allow a person to yell fire in a crowded theater. If what the student said is also proven, I would say that what he did was also criminal in this day and age, as it created fear and panic.

Ya think, Ron? Like maybe that's why the ;police arrested him? Like that's why the kid has to go to court? I'll bet the Milford PD took his car keys, too.

It's amazing how the Constitution is tossed around these days. It's been lowered to a level of being a sort of kickball being bounced up and down during a game.
