Better Business Bureau Reports Cellular Phone Services and Suppliers Most Complained-About Type of Business in 2012 Nationwide

More American consumers complained about cellular telephone service and suppliers in 2012 than any other type of business. In Connecticut complaints about travel booking sites led the pack in 2012.

Complaints about Online Travel Booking Sites Top the List in Connecticut

More American consumers complained about cellular telephone service and suppliers in 2012 than any other type of business, according to a breakdown of complaints by Type of Business (TOB).  In Connecticut however, complaints about online travel agencies (travel booking sites) led the pack last year, pushing complaints about health and diet products out of the number 1 position 2011.

Statistics for 2012 inquiries (consumers researching businesses through the BBB system), reveal a statistical correlation between research and complaints.  In all but one category, used car dealers, consumers who did their homework when looking for a goods or service provider were less likely to file a complaint.

“Our statics continue to show that when consumers ask questions and compare businesses before signing a contract, they tend to be less likely to have a problem,” according to Connecticut Better Business Bureau President, Paulette Scarpetti.

The top 10 most complained-about types of businesses by Connecticut consumers are:

  1. Online travel agencies
  2. Buying clubs
  3. Furniture – retail
  4. Insurance companies
  5. Burglar alarm systems and services
  6. Auto dealers – new cars
  7. Auto dealers – used cars
  8. Florists – retail
  9. Magazine sales
  10. Ticket sales – events

The top 10 types of businesses that are most researched by consumers in Connecticut are:

  1. Home improvements
  2. Auto dealers – used cars
  3. Oils – fuel
  4. Plumbers
  5. Roofing contractors
  6. Water & sewage line protection
  7. Heating and air conditioning
  8. Landscape contractors
  9. Auto dealers – new cars
  10. Energy service companies

The 2012 top 10 complaint TOB categories nationally show more dissatisfaction with major service providers such as wireless, telephone, satellite and cable television companies and financial services.

To clarify, they have 4 cats, and they're only able to take two of them, plus their 14 year old dog.Read More It was a struggle for them to even find a way to get the dog in the rental agreement, otherwise they would have tried to take them. :(

Please contact Forgotten Felines in Clinton. They are a no kill cat shelter. Offering "free toRead More a good home" pets is dangerous. There are bad people out there who take them and sell them to research labs or use them as bait in dog fighting. Please rethink this ad.
