Milford Unemployment Rate Ticks Up Again to 6.3 Percent

The city's local unemployment rate rose again slightly in February.

For the second month in a row Milford's local unemployment rate shifted up slightly in February. 

According to the latest figures recently released by the Connecticut Department of Labor, the city's unemployment race for February was 6.3 percent.

In December and November, the city's unemployment rate sat at 6 percent, it's lowest level of last year. And it was at 6.1 percent in October.

Additionally, the state's figures also showed the labor force in Milford dropped just a bit from 29,500 workers in January to 29,423 in February.

The town's highest reported unemployment rate over the last several months was in February 2013, when 7.7 percent of Milford's labor force reported they were out of work.

In Connecticut, the pool of jobless people rose up from 7.2 percent in January to 7.4 percent in February. Nationally, the United State's unemployment rate for the same time period is 6.6 percent.
