Sonic Drive-In lovers rejoice: the Milford location opens this week.
But before the grand opening Wednesday, the third Sonic in the state at 1365 Boston Post Road is holding a ‘Facebook Fan Day’ Tuesday for the more than 50,000 fans of the Sonic of CT Facebook page.
Like the page and show it at the door with your phone and enjoy anything off the half-priced menu, says franchisee Robert Mesite. The fan appreciation day runs from noon to 7 p.m.
Mesite, who also runs the Sonics in Manchester and Wallingford, says the Milford site will be the first one in the state – and only the eleventh out of 4,000 national locations – to offer indoor dining with counter service in addition to the drive-in stall service, which, at the Milford location, is equipped for 12 cars.
He says those dining in will also get the iconic carhop service afforded to those who choose to eat inside their vehicles. The dining room can accommodate 65 people.
There is no outdoor seating at this time but Mesite says he’s looking to install a patio in the spring.
“This is a very good location,” says the franchisee, who adds that he’s been trying to open a Sonic fast-food restaurant in Milford for three years. He says people drive from as far as Stamford and Bridgeport to the Sonic in Wallingford.
The Milford location has made 110 hires and is still accepting applications though there are no current openings, Mesite says.
Mesite expects things might turn “a little crazy at the beginning” so he asks that customers have patience and be sure to follow the traffic plan in the plaza.
And stay tuned, Mesite says, as in about 30 days Sonic plans to announce its next two locations in Connecticut, in the central part of the state.
Sonic of Milford will be open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. through October. Starting Nov. 1, the location begins regular hours, which are from 7 a.m. to 12 a.m.
