Milford Chamber of Commerce Urges Members to Oppose Spending Cap

The following message was sent by the Milford Chamber of Commerce to its members:

This is a crucial time in the budget debate.  With only 12 business days left in the Session, it is time to contact State Senators on the key issue regarding the budget: the state spending cap.

There are proposals to amend the statutory spending cap which would permit a proposed 10% increase in spending even though we are facing an estimated $2 Billion deficit.

Amendment of the cap would allow the passage of an unsustainable level of spending.  We cannot continue down that spending road.

Crucial Senators in the vote are:  Joan Hartley ( Waterbury), Paul Doyle (Wethersfield), Bob Duff (Norwalk), Anthony Musto (Bridgeport), Andrew Maynard (Stonington), and Andrea Stillman (Waterford).

Call 1-800-842-1420 ask for each Senator by name.  Leave a message you are opposed to increasing the spending cap. It’s only 6 calls, but could be the most important six calls you make as a business this year.

Standing firm opposing the change in the spending cap is our own Sen. Gayle Slossberg- call her and thank her -800-842-1420. Call the Capitol office today.
