Learn What's N.E.W. in Milford

An interview with Anita Taylor, President of the Network of Executive Women (N.E.W.) of Milford, who have an event on October 18th.

How was the Network of Executive Women of Milford first organized?

The organization was formed in April 1979 by a small group of Milford women business owners. Without many other women in similar business positions at that time, the six founding members came together to discuss their unique situations, issues and interests. From then on, Network of Executive Women has remained a vital group for local business women to network and share their business knowledge and experiences.

What do you think are some important things women should keep in mind as they become educated and join the work force?

The Network of Executive Women encourages all women to fulfill their dreams through independence, education and meaningful employment. We try to help women achieve this through our scholarship program. Network scholarships embody our motto of "Women Helping Women". Each year, our scholarships enable women in need to continue their education to improve their employment and family situations.

What can people look forward to at the upcoming event on October 18th?

All of the proceeds from The Girls' Night Out event go to our scholarship fund.  The event is open to all. It will take place at Mill River Country Club from 6 to 9pm and includes food, wine tasting and entertainment including a DJ, dance demonstrations, an Elvis impersonator, a photo booth and much more. We'll have raffles, auctions and shopping at over 40 local vendor tables.

What are some of the Network's recent accomplishments?

We're proud of the fact that we've been raising money and distributing scholarships for over thirty years. In 2012 we awarded eight scholarships to local women to help them with their undergraduate education. The group also continues to provide a platform where local women in business can share ideas, network and support each other.

I don't mind more pizza if its good pizza. There are plenty of horrible and so-so pizza places inRead More Milford. Currently 314 B-port Ave is a boarded up building with a parking lot where cops love to sit. Either this will prevent cops from sitting their or will cause them to sit there more. Also ladies, Milford is known for its P's: pizza, porn, package, and pawn.

I second Christina! Is no one listening? we are up to our ears in pizza! Im pretty sure we have moreRead More pizza in milford than new haven! Where is this trailer going to park at the devon market!? the traffic the market creates is bad enough for people that live in that area without a mobile oven rolling on in! I hope they have thought of that issue at the very least!
