Goodies Goes for Title of Best Burger in Milford

Does Goodies' double cheese burger with chili, bacon and onions take the prize?

The tantalizing smell of freshly made French fries greeted us as we walked in to . We wondered, would it live up to the hype?

Speedy Service

There were a few people ahead of us along with a steady stream of customers going in and out. The one cashier on duty moved the line along quickly, though. The cashier was curt, but efficient.

Our drinks were given to us while we waited for our food. My milkshake was handed to me in less than a minute. I'm not kidding. It's not as though it were pre-made. This place is quick!

Out of the nine shake flavors, I chose toasted almond. The shake hit the spot but it was icey rather than thick and creamy. As far as the flavor goes, it wasn't overpowering -- it was just right.

After a few sips, my Goodie burger was ready. It looked so good I almost forgot to help my son layout his food.

Kids Meal is a Deal

The kids meal consisted of a cheeseburger with a decent sized order of krinkle cut fries, his choice of drink and stickers.

His cheeseburger was an average single burger. It wasn't juicy but it wasn't dry either. My son enjoyed his burger and fries, but he was more interested in the giant "energizer" gumball machine.

Double Cheese Burger with Bacon & Chili

I started with the fries. They were deep fried to golden-brown perfection, but they needed salt. I'd say they were average.

Then it was burger time. Let me tell you, it was a bit difficult to pick up and get my first bite in with everything piled so high. Not only was this a double burger topped with a giant bun, it was chock full of other good stuff, including:

  • A thin layer of chili on the bottom of the bun topped with burger one.
  • Topped with a thick layer of cheddar cheese and crispy strips of bacon.
  • Another burger topped with bacon and cheese and pieces of onions (it comes with raw onions but I requested grilled).

If the burger stood alone it would be "just another burger" but when you start adding toppings, it is ... good!

Onions and chili were falling out everywhere and the bottom bun was getting a bit soggy from the weight of the burger juice and toppings. My only advice would be to put the chili in between the burgers to help prevent bun sogginess.

Chili Dog With Cheese

After polishing off my burger I was getting full, but I just had to try a hot dog with chili and cheese.

The bun was buttered and toasted with a sturdy dog topped with a slice of American cheese and chili.

The chili was soupy and lacking flavor; the only spice I was picking up was "hot." In my book, chili should be thick.
