CT Named Fifth-Worst State to Make a Living

Washington named No. 1, Hawaii comes in last.

Rarely do Connecticut residents catch themselves saying, “At least we don’t live in Hawaii,” but that might be the case after perusing Money-Rates.com’s list of the Best and Worst States to Make a Living 2014.

Connecticut was ranked the fifth-worst state to make a living, with Rhode Island, Mississippi, New York and Hawaii the only states scoring worse.

The rankings were based a metric that weighed average salary, cost of living, employment rate and workplace conditions.

Connecticut fell nine places since last year’s list, Money-Rates reported, because of high costs of living, high unemployment and poor workplace conditions.
