NUTMEG SYMPHONIC POPS FREE CONCERT

The Nutmeg Symphonic Pops Orchestra is presenting  a free concert Sunday November 13 at 2:00 p.m. at Gateway Community College, 88 Bassett Street, North Haven. Joseph Stango, Connecticut's Pavarotti, will be celebrating his 30th anniversary at this concert.  Stango will perform from Verdi, Tosti, DeCurtis and Ferilli/Maggio.  He has appeared with Opera Music Theater International, several opera companies including San Francisco's Merola Opera and Shubert Opera as well as with the Symphonies of New Haven, Northern Virginia, Wallingford and Edmonton (Canada). Stango was  a finalist in the Luciano Pavarotti International Competition. Also appearing during the concert is Kristin Smith, soprano and the Gateway Chorale, performing music from Act II of Merry Widow. The Nutmeg Symphonic Pops Orchestra under the direction of conductor Dr. Dino Ciaburri, will perform 20th Century music and introduce the popular Motown concept during the program with a medley of Motown music. There are no tickets necessary for this concert; donations will be accepted. Directions: Exit 63 from Wilbur Cross Parkway to Route 22, crossing I-91 and Route 5. Continue two miles.
